Dr. Ramkumar practices at Apollo Sugar Clinics, Apollo Hospitals, Greams Road, known for their excellence in endocrine health care.

After completing his MBBS and MD, Dr S Ramkumar secured first rank in DM Endocrinology in All India Institute of Medical Science (AIIMS), New Delhi. He is currently only Diabetologist and Endocrinologist to have both DM and DNB Endocrinology in Chennai and in the state of Tamilnadu. He was also the only Endocrinologist to work in Rajiv Gandhi Government General Hospital, Madras Medical College as Senior Assistant Professor for several years.
